It’s all but official right now: the 2022 Honda Civic Si is now less than 24 hours away. The sportier version of the Civic was teased by the Japanese car maker earlier today, on social media. It doesn’t show the whole car, but it does show the famous badge sitting nicely above the rear right-hand side taillamp.
The 11th generation Civic was officially unveiled in April, this year. It comes with a drastically changed exterior and a completely new interior, as well as a lot more tech. However, for enthusiasts, the standard model would never cut it. And since the Type-R is still quite far away, the Si will have to make due and work as a surrogate until then.

For now, we don’t have any official data about the upcoming Civic Si model. However, we can make out a couple of details from this very limited teaser nonetheless. For example, we can tell that the Si version will have unique design cues. That’s because the teaser image shows darkened taillight, tailgate spoiler and a decorative black strip above what looks like an oval exhaust chrome pipe. All of those items point to a series of changes done to the standard Civic for the Si version.
The specs are still missing but considering Honda’s line-up right now, chances are we’ll be seeing the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine under the hood of the new Civic Si, as we did on the previous generation model. What could change, however, is the power output. The old version could rely on 205 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. The new one might have better numbers on paper once it officially comes out.
What has been confirmed so far though is that the Civic Si version will not be offered as a hatch, but only as a sedan. Furthermore, the only gearbox available will be a manual 6-speed, as we expected. That’s understandable, just like the Type R that also comes with a manual only. According to Honda, we’ll get to see the new Civic Si tomorrow, so stay tuned to learn all about it as soon as it breaks cover.
