Infiniti’s QX50 crossover is getting a makeover for 2022, with wireless Apple CarPlay and a new standard driver assistance system. Those added tech bits will come in handy when trying to explain the $1,050 price increase over the 2021 model. The QX50 Pure, the base model, will now start at $39,000.
Of course, Infiniti included more standard kit into the package, such as ProPILOT Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane centering technology, among other things. There are few other modifications, but the crossover now comes standard with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and USB Type C charging connections for the back passengers. In addition, the Intelligent Key now works on the back doors, and the back door handles have LED welcome lights.
The QX50 Luxe model is now $850 more expensive and starts at $42,350. Despite the price increase, there aren’t many novelties to talk about, save from a $1,200 Appearance Package that includes black mirror caps, a body color rear diffuser and 20-inch black, machine-finished alloys. A black mesh grille, black fender details, a black liftgate finisher, and a graphite headliner are all included in the package.
As you move up the trim ladder, the QX50 Essential costs $2,100 more and starts at $46,800. Don’t scoff at it just yet though, as it is significantly better equipped, with heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 16-speaker Bose premium audio system.
The $51,500 QX50 Sensory model is a step up, including premium features previously reserved for the top-of-the-line Autograph trim. Perforated semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and a motion-activated power liftgate are among the highlights. Ultrasuede accents and four-way motorized lumbar support for the front passenger are also included in the model.
Finally, there’s the QX50 Autograph, which costs $56,950. It mostly stays the same, although the 2022 model is now available only with all-wheel drive.
All QX50s are powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, regardless of trim. It’s mated to a continuously variable transmission, which can be upgraded to all-wheel drive for an extra $2,000 if desired. All prices are excluding the $1,025 destination and handling fee.
