2022 Mazda CX-9 Pricing Announced, Starts At $35,280

Mazda revealed the pricing and package options for its 2022 CX-9 flagship SUV this week. Kicking things off at $35,280 you’d be tempted to say we’re looking at a hike of over $1,000 over the 2021 models but you need to keep in mind that the cheapest CX-9 now comes with all-wheel drive as standard and that puts things into perspective.

Considering the included all-wheel drive system, the new price actually adds up to a discount of $780 compared to the cheapest AWD version you could get before. The novelties continue with the addition of a Touring Plus variant for $41,660 on the 2022 Mazda CX-9.

The looks are somewhat altered on this version, with a gloss black grille, aluminum roof rails, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish, and it builds on the CX-9 Touring with the Premium option. Inside, buyers will find heated and ventilated front seats, a frameless rearview mirror, and power driver’s seat with memory function, among other features.

Leather interior, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a sunroof are also included. A power liftgate, keyless entry, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system are among the included features as well.

The Mazda CX-9 will hit dealerships in the United States this winter, with all variants featuring a turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. On standard 87 octane gasoline, the engine makes 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Switch to premium gas and those values go up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft however.

Apart from the pre-defined packages (Sport, Touring, Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring and Signature) you can also add premium paint colors to the final configuration of your CX-9. Soul Red Crystal Metallic costs an additional $595, the same as Machine Grey Metallic, while Snowflake White Pearl Mica will set you back just $395. Prices don’t include the $1,225 ($1,270 in Alaska) destination and handling fee.
