Volkswagen just announced the pricing for its slightly updated 2022 Jetta model range. The party starts at just $20,195 and that doesn’t include the $995 destination and handling fee, which takes the total up to a bare minimum of $21,190. Doing a bit of simple math, that’s $1,200 more than the outgoing version. So, what do you get for that extra money?
The cheapest Jetta you’ll be able to buy comes in the S trim and offers 16-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillamps, daytime running lights with LED technology, automatic headlamps, cloth seats and an 8-inch digital cockpit among other things. That’s for the manual version though. If you want an automatic, you’ll have to pay $800 more.
Up next in the line-up is the Jetta Sport version, which is actually a new model for the 2022 model year. Pricing for the Sport version starts at $22,090 (including the destination and handling fee) and includes 17-inch wheels, a limited slip XDS differential, unique cloth comfort seats and blacked out trims on the outside of the car. Once again, if you want the Jetta Sport with an automatic gearbox you’ll have to pay $800 extra.
Then there’s the SE model, starting at $24,790. This one too comes with 17-inch wheels but it also adds comfort features like rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and six-way adjustable seats with leatherette. This version will only be available with an automatic gearbox, so it’s already a pretty decent value for what you get.
Before we get to the top-dog GLI version, there’s also the SEL available, for $28,790 (including D&H fee). This one is also available only with an automatic gearbox and adds adaptive headlights, a sunroof, a heated steering wheel, heated windshield wipers, a bigger digital cockpit, and a premium sound system from BeatsAudio on top of what you get on the SE version.
Lastly, the GLI Jetta will have a starting price of $31,990. That gets you the 228 HP engine, with 258 lb-ft of torque along with 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch infotainment screen as well as BeatsAudio and voice controls among other things. For the automatic version you’ll have to add the usual $800 to the bill. Volkswagen says that the 2022 Jetta should arrive in dealerships soon.
