The 2023 Cadillac Escalade range is about to get a lot more interesting in the near future. That’s because Cadillac just announced the introduction of the V-Series models, that are expected to come fitted with supercharged V8 engines under the hood. For now, though, this remains a bit of a teaser, as the GM brand refused to offer all the details about the car for the time being.
The highly anticipated Escalade-V is a 2023 model with a lot of details that are still left to be unveiled. The first Cadillac-branded sport utility vehicle to wear the V-Series badge and, according to GM, we will be getting all the details about it this spring. The LT4 V8 used under the hood of the CT5-V Blackwing mid-size sports sedan would be our safest bet right now, regarding the powerplant that will find a home under the hood of this car. However, that’s not a given at this time.
If that were to be confirmed, we’d be looking at a 6.2-liter engine making around 650 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. Because of the platform used to make the Escalade, the Hydra-Matic 10L80 ten-speed automatic transmission developed in collaboration with Ford will most likely be the only gearbox option available.
“With nearly two decades of racing-inspired prowess, the V-Series designation is reserved for vehicles that encompass the peak of Cadillac performance, bold, distinguished design, and innovative technology,” reads a statement from the Detroit-based automaker. The luxury-oriented brand will go completely electric by 2030, and knowing the biggest of the Big Three in Detroit, the all-electric Escalade is a matter of when rather than if.
From what we can make out from the initial photos released by the company, the Escalade V-Series models will get a slightly different design up front and in other key areas. The Escalade V’s front bumper has been updated. A robust lower grille stands out, flanked by LEDs, which gain a vent-like trim piece and are carved into the bodywork with a crisp character line, instead of a long trim piece reaching across the bottom to link the LED running lights.
A redesigned front splitter and multi-spoke grey wheels are also available. Around the back, there’s a quad-tip exhaust and a false diffuser, and all of the SUV’s trims are blacked out. The one interior photo we got reveals another “V” at the base of the steering wheel, and there are prominent “V” emblems on the rear hatch and front doors.
