The first retail 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 went under the hammer at a Barrett-Jackson auction, for no less than $3.6 million. If it weren’t for the 1967 Chevy Corvette L88 Coupe, which sold for $3.85 million in 2014, this would be the most expensive Corvette ever sold at auction.
Rick Hendrick, the founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, was the winner of the VIN001 2023 Corvette Z06 auction. With a hammer price of $3 million, Hendrick was also the successful bidder for the first mid-engine Corvette Stingray in 2020. All the proceeds of this sale go to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit focused on building strong, stable, and secure military families.
“The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president, and CEO of Operation Homefront.
As for the spec of this very special and expensive Corvette, we’ll point out that it comes with the 70th Anniversary Edition package among other things. Ceramic leather two-tone seats with suede accents, a suede steering wheel, and a special piece of anniversary-branded baggage are included in this specification level.
70th Anniversary Edition Corvettes come standard (not at crazy auction prices) with a distinctive set of wheels with red edges and anniversary center caps, as well as red brake calipers, a rear bumper guard, and a trunk cover. Carbon Flash Metallic or a brand-new white hue dubbed White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat are available just to the automobiles.
As for the specs, the new Z06 Corvette comes with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 V8 that redlines at 8,600 RPM and can deliver up to 670 HP and 460 lb-ft of torque for a dash to 60 mph that takes just 2.6 seconds.
